The Scarab or Dung beetle was one of the most powerful images in ancient Egyptian mythology. It was a representation of the cycle of life as everyday ancient Egyptians witnessed beetles coming out in the desert with each morning light. The solar disc on top of the beetle referred to the sun god Raa the creator God of ancient egyptian religion. The scarab was revered by ancient Egyptians and was depicted in many temples and tombs with the most famous the scarab statue in the temple of Karnak, south of Egypt.
