A scene of ancient Egyptian sailors during one of the naval expeditions from the temple of Queen Hatshepsut in Luxor southern of Egypt. Queen Hatshepsut recorded the naval expedition of the Egyptian commercial fleet on walls of her funerary temple. The scene depicts sailors and rowers while drawing different species of fish and squid to emphasize them sailing in the red sea. The Egyptian fleet reached the east coast of Africa or the " Land of Punt" and brought with it different exotic products from animals to ebony and ivory which were unknown to the ancinet Egyptians back then. Ancient Egyptian ships were built from papyrus reeds circa 3000 BC then more developed forms made from wood evolved during the reign on the new kingdom circa 1500BC. The original releif from the temple of Queen Hatshepsut is shown on Pic 2.
